Intervals before memorization

A scale is defined by distances from its root. This page shows both degree formulas and step patterns, then maps those same pitch classes onto piano, guitar and staff so the structure stays visible.

Spelling matters

Scale notes are generated by scale degree, not by blindly choosing the nearest sharp or flat. That keeps common spellings such as A♭ major and F♯ major readable and theory-consistent.
