Slope Calculator
Move two points or enter a line. Get exact slope, rise/run, every common line form, intercepts, midpoint, distance, angle, and the visual reason it all works.
One line, every useful view
Slope + run stays exact. Angle input or distance stepping can create irrational coordinates, so those constructed points are clearly labeled approximations while the line direction remains faithful.
y = 3/2x + 1/2
Slope from two points
Parallel, perpendicular, or intersecting?
Compare two lines without leaving the page. Results stay exact for rational inputs.
Intersection: (6/5, 17/5)
Find a missing coordinate
Know one point, the slope, and either the target x or y? Solve the missing partner exactly.
3 + (3/2)(8 − 2) = 12

30sSlope is change in y over change in x
Subtract in the same order: (y₂ − y₁)/(x₂ − x₁). Reversing both differences gives the same slope.
Vertical means undefined
If Δx = 0, division by zero is not a finite slope. The line is x = constant.
Parallel keeps, perpendicular flips
Parallel non-vertical lines share a slope. Perpendicular slopes are negative reciprocals.
Equation forms tell the same story
Switch among slope-intercept, point-slope, and standard form without changing the underlying line.
Methods, exactness & what this calculator covers
Exact where it should be
Whole numbers, decimals, scientific notation, fractions and mixed numbers are parsed as exact rational values with JavaScript BigInt. Slope, line forms, midpoint and intercepts remain exact. Distance and angle are displayed as decimal measurements.
Three ways into the same line
Use two points, a known point with slope or angle, or a line equation. The live graph and results stay synchronized, including vertical and horizontal edge cases.
Designed for learning, not just an answer
The rise/run triangle, derivation steps, line comparison lab, Daily 12 and focused practice turn a one-off calculator into a repeatable coordinate-geometry workspace.
