Block Puzzle Online

Place fixed-orientation shapes on an 8×8 board, clear complete rows and columns, and keep enough flexible space for the next three pieces.

Block Puzzle is about space, not speed

The board is an 8×8 grid and every turn starts with three visible pieces. Pick one piece, place it anywhere it fits, and use all three pieces before the tray refills. A completed row or column clears immediately. There is no rotation button, so the shape and orientation shown in the tray are the exact problem you need to solve. The run continues until none of the remaining tray pieces has a legal placement.

The three-piece tray creates real lookahead

A move can be legal and still be strategically poor. The useful question is not only “where does this piece fit?” but “where can all three current pieces fit in some order?” Keeping a wide open region for larger squares and long bars matters because a scattered board can have many empty cells while offering very few usable shapes. This is why the interface shows the entire tray at once instead of dealing one piece at a time.

Rows and columns use the same clear rule

After a placement, the engine checks all eight rows and all eight columns. Any fully occupied line is cleared. If one move completes a row and a column through the same intersection, that shared cell disappears once even though the move earns credit for two completed lines. The independent verifier contains row-only, column-only and crossing-line fixtures so clear behavior cannot silently drift.

Scoring is intentionally simple and visible

Each occupied cell you place is worth one point. Every cleared row or column adds ten points. Clearing more than one line in the same move adds a small multi-line bonus, while clearing on consecutive moves creates a visible combo bonus. The game does not convert this into an IQ estimate, worldwide percentile or invented skill rating. Score, lines, moves and best combo are the actual local metrics.

Piece orientation is fixed

The shape catalog contains small dots, bars, squares, corners, T shapes, zigzags and other compact polyominoes. A piece never rotates after it reaches the tray. Fixed orientation makes the stream reproducible and keeps the decision grounded in the shape you can actually see. The release verifier checks that placements stay inside the board and never overlap occupied cells.

Practice seeds make a run reproducible

The first Practice visit fixes a numeric seed in the URL. That seed determines the sequence of three-piece trays. Your decisions still control the board, score and survival time. Reopening the same seed restores its browser-local autosave when one exists, so a deterministic run is replayable without being scripted or guaranteed to reach a particular score.

Daily Block Puzzle uses a date-stable stream

The Daily mode derives its piece stream from the calendar date. The same date therefore begins with the same deterministic sequence in this build. Daily history and streaks belong only to the Block Puzzle specialist and do not occupy or modify any slot in the platform’s established Today’s 6 rotation.

The 50-Piece Challenge provides a finite target

Endless block placement is useful for personal bests, but it can be convenient to have a bounded session. The 50-Piece Challenge uses the same placement and clearing rules and finishes after fifty successful placements, unless the board runs out of legal space first. This gives a compact score-comparison routine without inventing extra levels or thin per-score pages.

Hint recommends a legal placement

Hint scans legal positions for the three visible pieces and highlights one anchor. The heuristic values immediate clear points and the amount of empty space that remains. It is a learning aid, not a solver that promises the globally optimal future. Because every suggested anchor is passed through the same placement function used by real moves, the verifier can test Hint legality over thousands of states.

Undo is transparent assistance

Undo restores the position before the most recent placement, including score, tray progress, combo and deterministic stream position. Hint, Undo and Restart mark the run Assisted. You can still finish, save and learn from that run, but assisted play cannot masquerade as a clean personal best.

Autosave stays in the browser

Practice, Daily and 50-Piece sessions save their current board, tray and run metadata to browser-local storage. The page does not require an account, remote database or paid service. Clearing site data removes that local history. The app reports what is actually saved rather than implying cloud synchronization that does not exist.

There is no wagering or paid randomness

Block Puzzle is a free spatial-planning game. It has no wagering, chips, prizes, stakes, purchases, loot boxes or paid random mechanics. The deterministic piece generator is part of the local game engine and does not depend on a paid API or server-side draw.

Mobile controls use the same rules

On touch screens, select one of the three tray pieces and tap a legal anchor on the board. On desktop, the same buttons work with mouse or keyboard focus. A legal move is determined entirely by the engine, so mobile and desktop cannot disagree about whether a piece fits.

Why an open board can still be dangerous

Empty-cell count alone is not enough. Long bars need continuous lanes, squares need compact blocks of space, and awkward pockets may be unusable by almost every shape. Strong play maintains both total emptiness and geometric flexibility. The next-three-piece tray makes that tradeoff visible before you commit.

Local records stay factual

The specialist stores runs played, clean runs, best score, total lines, best combo, 50-Piece best and Daily streak. These are personal browser records. There is no global leaderboard, population rank or claim that a particular score proves intelligence, concentration level or cognitive improvement.

Fresh Practice changes the stream, not the rules

Fresh Practice creates another URL seed while preserving the same 8×8 board, piece catalog and score formula. This lets you repeat the skill loop without manufacturing doorway pages for individual shapes, scores or seeds.

Practice and 50-Piece serve different session lengths

Practice is open-ended until the board locks. The 50-Piece Challenge provides a bounded goal. Both use the same deterministic generator and clearing engine, so learning transfers directly between the two modes.
