DAILY DOMINOES · DATE-STABLE DRAW

Daily Dominoes

Play one deterministic Draw deal for the date against fair browser-local Standard AI, then keep a specialist history that stays separate from Today’s 6.

One shared Draw deal for the date

Daily Match turns a hidden-hand strategy game into a repeatable daily benchmark.

Daily Dominoes uses Draw rules and Standard browser-local AI. The date is converted into a deterministic seed, so the opening tile, both starting hands, boneyard order, and subsequent deterministic computer choices can be reproduced for that date. Two fresh browser contexts therefore begin from the same game state. The Daily flow is separate from the six-game Today’s 6 rotation and has its own local history and streak.

The goal is not to claim that one daily deal has a single mathematically forced winning line. Hidden information makes ordinary Dominoes different from an exact endgame puzzle. Instead, Daily Match gives you the same starting challenge again so you can compare your decisions. Exact claims are reserved for Endgame Tactics, where both hands are visible and complete minimax is feasible.

A Daily win adds that date to the specialist history and updates the Dominoes streak. A loss records the game in ordinary statistics but does not falsely advance the Daily streak. The next and previous date controls allow archival practice while preventing navigation beyond the current date.

This release uses a complete double-six domino set: every unordered pair from 0–0 through 6–6 appears exactly once, giving twenty-eight unique tiles. Two players receive seven tiles each. The opening tile is chosen by a deterministic highest-double rule, falling back to the strongest pip tile if neither hand contains a double. After the opener, play continues from the two exposed ends of one shared chain. A tile is legal only when one of its halves matches the chosen open end. The interface rotates the orientation for you, so the visual chain always agrees with the rules engine rather than asking you to mentally reverse a tile.

Draw and Block share the same matching engine but make one important strategic choice differently. In Draw, a player with no legal tile draws from the boneyard one tile at a time until a playable tile is found or the boneyard is empty. In Block, the boneyard is not used after the deal; a player who cannot match either end passes. If both players pass in succession, the round is blocked and the player with fewer pips left in hand wins. That difference changes how aggressively you should shed high-pip tiles and how valuable it is to control a scarce endpoint.

The product is deliberately a strategy and logic game only. It has no coins, betting, wagering, purchasable chips, jackpots, or simulated casino economy. Scores are based on round results, remaining pip margins, clean local records, and tactic accuracy. This keeps the learning loop focused on observation, endpoint control, probability, memory, and move order rather than on a gambling-style reward system.

Play the Daily clean or use help deliberately

Local records distinguish unaided decisions from assisted practice.

Endgame Tactics are not arbitrary screenshots with a suggested answer. The Project freezes 120 late-game Block positions reached from legal seeded play: forty Easy, forty Standard, and forty Hard. Both hands are visible because this is a perfect-information study mode. Every candidate first action is solved to the terminal result with exact minimax. Only positions with at least two legal actions and one uniquely best first action are retained. The bank stores the best tile, the correct chain end, the exact final utility, and the gap to the runner-up.

A wrong tactic move is useful information rather than an instant board mutation. The position stays unchanged, the item enters Failed Review, and you can compare alternatives before trying again. A correct retry counts as solved but not first-try. A clean first attempt counts separately. Hint identifies the exact stored action but marks the attempt as assisted. The deterministic generator is kept in the Project so the committed tactic bank can be rebuilt and independently re-solved during release QA instead of being trusted as opaque data.

Ordinary computer play also distinguishes Clean from Assisted records. Hint or Undo permanently marks the current run Assisted, and that status is saved immediately so a reload cannot resurrect a Clean autosave after help was used. Restart is also Assisted because the opening is now known. Assisted wins still count as completed games, but only unaided wins can create Clean local bests. All records remain in browser storage; there is no account, remote leaderboard, or claim of a worldwide rank.

Strong Dominoes play begins with endpoint control. Before placing the first legal tile you notice, compare the two numbers that would remain open. If your hand has several ways to answer one number but almost none for another, choosing the flexible endpoint can preserve options for later turns. Doubles deserve special attention because they contain the same number on both halves and can concentrate the chain around one pip value. A move that empties a heavy tile may still be poor if it hands the opponent an endpoint they are likely to hold in abundance.

Public information matters. Every tile already played is visible, the two endpoints are visible, the size of each hidden hand is visible, and Draw mode also reveals how many tiles remain in the boneyard. The Board Coach counts public pip appearances without pretending to know the opponent’s hidden tiles. Hard and Expert computer opponents follow the same fairness rule: they may reason from their own hand and public information, then sample plausible unseen tiles, but they do not directly inspect the identities in your hidden hand.

When both ends accept the same tile, the app does not silently choose for you. Select the tile, then choose Left or Right. The decision can matter because the other half becomes a different endpoint depending on where the tile is placed. On touch devices you can also drag a tile toward an endpoint. Keyboard play provides tile navigation plus Left and Right endpoint commands, Draw or Pass, Hint, and Undo. These inputs all call the same legality functions used by pointer play.

Use the Daily as a short strategy lesson

The same deal makes post-game reflection more useful than an unrelated random round.

After a Daily round, look back at moments when you had a choice of endpoints. If a tile fit both sides, did one endpoint preserve more future matches? Did you hold a high double too long? Did a forced draw reveal that you had allowed a scarce number to remain open? Because the starting deal is stable for the date, you can restart for study, but Restart correctly marks the new attempt Assisted because you now know the opening.

The Board Coach is intentionally conservative. It counts public pip appearances and explains endpoint pressure without revealing or pretending to infer the exact hidden opponent hand. Standard AI similarly uses only its own hand and public information. This makes the Daily useful for learning realistic hidden-information reasoning rather than exploiting privileged data.

When you want certainty instead of probability, switch to Endgame Tactics. There both hands are visible and the release bank has exact unique-best solutions. Daily Match and Endgame Tactics therefore teach complementary skills: making reasonable decisions under uncertainty and calculating fully when the state is known.

A browser-local Daily also avoids account friction. The current date, local storage, and deterministic seed are enough to provide continuity. There is no login, remote leaderboard, or claim that your local streak compares with other players. If browser storage is cleared, local records are cleared as well.

This release deliberately adds only two search-facing Dominoes entry points: this Daily page and the general Dominoes game page. Draw, Block, AI levels, Hint, Undo, endgame difficulty, and other settings stay inside the product rather than becoming thin doorway pages.

For a first session, play the Daily once without Hint. Then inspect one exact tactic. That combination demonstrates the two kinds of reasoning Dominoes rewards: managing uncertain hidden tiles in a normal match and calculating forced endpoint sequences in a fully known ending.
