Daily Fillomino
One deterministic number-region puzzle for the date, with the same independently verified board whenever that date is reopened. Daily history and streaks stay local and separate from Today’s 6.
One stable puzzle for the date
Daily Fillomino selects one frozen source and one symmetry transform deterministically from the local date. Reloading the same date reconstructs the same clue pattern and verified completion; there is no remote puzzle API, opaque server archive or account-dependent random draw.
Daily Fillomino is a specialist routine outside Today’s 6. Its history and streak live under Fillomino-specific local state, while the frozen Today’s 6 rotation remains unchanged. Completing a Daily Fillomino therefore does not silently rewrite the platform’s six-game daily score.
The selector mixes Easy 6×6, Standard 8×8 and Challenge 9×9 according to the frozen release distribution. Different dates can revisit the same source-transform start, so the product reports the measured distinct-start count rather than claiming 365 unique boards.
The rule is still about connected area
Every connected group of equal numbers must contain exactly that many cells. If four adjacent cells contain 4, that region is complete; adding a fifth 4 or allowing another 4-region to touch it orthogonally would violate the rule. Empty cells must eventually belong to one valid region.
A useful daily habit is to inspect complete printed regions first. Their boundaries immediately forbid the same value in neighboring cells. Then find partial regions that are close to their target size and ask where they can still expand without crossing incompatible clues.
Because diagonal contact does not merge regions, diagonal copies of the same number are allowed. Treat edge adjacency as the important boundary when separating equal-sized regions.
Use capacity before spending a hint
A partial region can look open while actually being stranded. The live analyzer checks how many compatible cells its connected component can still reach. If a 5-region has three cells but can reach only one additional compatible cell, the state is impossible even though the component is not yet oversized.
Forced-growth reasoning turns the same idea around. If a region needs exactly two more cells and has exactly two viable frontier cells, both are required. Daily mode surfaces this kind of explainable pressure so a hint can reinforce a technique rather than immediately reveal an arbitrary answer.
If you do request Verified Hint, the run becomes Assisted. Clean and Assisted Daily records remain distinct, which lets the streak continue while preserving an honest signal about whether the solve was unaided.
Candidate cells show where the board is tight
The candidate monitor tests values 1–6 against current local geometry. It is especially useful after several regions have been completed, because their boundaries sharply reduce what nearby empty cells can become. A single candidate is locally forced; two candidates usually deserve attention before a wide-open cell.
This filtering is not presented as a complete global proof. The independent exact solver is used at release time to prove the original puzzle unique, while the browser monitor deliberately stays lightweight and explainable enough to update during play.
On a difficult date, alternate between candidate cells and region frontiers. A candidate placement can complete a region; that completion can forbid the same number next door; the new boundary can in turn create another singleton candidate.
Autosave makes the Daily routine resilient
Every edit, elapsed time and Undo history is saved in browser-local state. Close the tab after one move, reopen the same Daily date and the unfinished board restores. Solving it records the specialist Daily history and streak locally without requiring sign-in.
Clearing browser storage can remove that local history, so the streak is a personal browser record rather than a cloud-backed ranking claim. There is no remote leaderboard dependency required to keep playing or to reopen a deterministic date.
Pause is available when you need to step away, and Restart lets you retry the same date. Daily uses the same touch, mouse and keyboard controls as Practice, including drag number painting and protected printed clues.
Independent verification covers the Daily source pool
The project-local generator does not establish uniqueness by itself. A separate exact-cover verifier reconstructs candidate connected regions from the clues and counts complete legal partitions while enforcing the rule that separate equal-sized regions cannot touch along an edge.
V0.128 release QA independently rechecks 60 frozen sources, 480 symmetry transforms, 6,000 Practice selections and all 365 Daily selections. Stored solutions are replayed as a separate contract. A source is not admitted merely because the UI can display a completion.
This lets Daily Fillomino stay lightweight at runtime without making vague claims about puzzle quality. The expensive proof work is frozen into release verification; the browser gets deterministic, locally replayable assets and responsive reasoning tools.
Build a useful daily benchmark
Instead of measuring only completion time, notice how many speculative moves you need. On an Easy day, try to resolve all obvious complete-region boundaries before using a hint. On Standard, look for a forced-growth frontier before filling a two-candidate cell. On Challenge, track whether a region has enough reachable capacity before extending it.
If a date defeats you, the companion Practice mode is designed for replay. Open a deterministic seed, study the same kinds of capacity and separation deductions, then return to the Daily board. That loop creates more learning value than treating each day as a disposable one-shot puzzle.
The purpose of the Daily specialist is therefore simple: one reproducible verified puzzle, enough local feedback to learn from mistakes, and a reason to return without depending on an account or remote content service.
