V0.128 · DAILY NETWORK ROTATION

Daily Pipes

Play one date-stable Pipes puzzle each day with the same verified network for every player using that date. Your rotations, locks, elapsed time and Undo history autosave locally, while Daily history and streaks remain separate from Today’s 6.

What changes each day

The date deterministically chooses a difficulty, one frozen source and one of eight symmetry transforms, then creates a deterministic orientation scramble. Reloading the same date returns the same puzzle instead of requesting a fresh board from a server. The 2026 selector is tested across all 365 dates for deterministic selection and structural validity.

Daily mode is a specialist routine, not a replacement for Today’s 6. Its completion history and streak live under Pipes-specific local state. The frozen Today’s 6 sequence is intentionally left unchanged when V0.128 is added.

Autosave makes a larger network practical

A 7×7 or 9×9 network may take longer than one short visit. Daily mode saves tile orientations, your lock annotations, move count, assistance state, timer state and Undo history in the browser. Reloading restores the unfinished board rather than starting the daily puzzle over.

Everything is local-first. There is no login requirement and no remote leaderboard dependency required to continue a solve. Clearing browser storage can remove local history, so the streak is a personal browser record rather than a cloud claim.

Use a repeatable daily solving order

Begin at the outer boundary. Remove orientations that point outside the grid, then look for endpoints, straights and corners whose remaining direction is forced. Lock only the deductions you trust. The live orientation-domain monitor becomes more informative as sound locks constrain neighboring cells.

Next inspect the powered frontier. A large powered component is useful progress, but it does not prove correctness. If a tile has two remaining orientations, ask which choice can satisfy its neighbors and preserve a route for disconnected components. Use global connectivity as a late check after local edge constraints, not as an excuse to rotate randomly until the board glows.

Clean and Assisted daily solves

Undo and Redo do not by themselves make a run Assisted; they are ordinary reasoning tools. Check and Verified Hint do. Check compares the current network against the verified target and highlights unresolved orientations, while Verified Hint either applies a domain-forced orientation or reveals a low-domain tile from the independently verified solution.

Keeping Clean and Assisted outcomes separate makes the daily history more meaningful. You can use help while learning and later return to Practice to solve similar boards unaided.

Why the daily board can be trusted

Daily Pipes uses the same project-local frozen bank as Practice. The generator begins from a connected spanning-tree network, records tile shapes and then hides their orientations. An independent exact solver receives the shapes and proves that only one orientation assignment satisfies board boundaries, reciprocal pipe edges and whole-network connectivity.

V0.128 release verification checks all 60 sources, all 480 symmetry transforms, 6,000 Practice selections and all 365 Daily selections. Daily variety is reported truthfully: deterministic dates can revisit a source-transform start, so the product does not claim 365 different boards when the measured distinct count is lower.

Daily versus unlimited Practice

Use Daily when you want one shared target and a lightweight local streak. Use Practice when you want unlimited seeds, a chosen difficulty or a replayable board for studying one deduction. The puzzle engine, uniqueness contract, orientation monitor, lock system and hint logic are the same in both modes.

Easy uses 5×5 boards, Standard 7×7 and Challenge 9×9. The Daily selector mixes those difficulty pools deterministically instead of making every day the same size. A difficult day therefore becomes a reason to study the guide or replay Practice, not a reason to abandon the streak.

A small routine that builds real network reasoning

On each daily board, try to name the reason before rotating: boundary, neighbor edge, tile degree, forced orientation or connectivity. This slows random clicking and makes the orientation-domain display useful as feedback. When a contradiction appears, use Undo to identify which lock introduced it.

Because the puzzle is local and deterministic, you can close the tab and return later without losing the reasoning state. That repeatability is the core purpose of Daily Pipes: one verified network, enough feedback to learn from it, and no requirement to turn the exercise into an account or social competition.

A useful personal benchmark is not simply whether the board was solved, but whether you can reduce the amount of exploratory rotation over time. On an Easy day, try to finish the outer ring before touching the center. On Standard, identify which junctions control more than one disconnected branch. On Challenge, delay uncertain locks and keep a short mental list of two-orientation cells until a neighboring deduction collapses them. Because the same date is stable, you can return later and compare a cleaner reasoning route without receiving a different puzzle.

The Daily history records the specialist result locally, while the verified source and deterministic date selection make the puzzle reproducible for QA and replay. That design avoids two common problems in lightweight daily games: losing an unfinished board on refresh and silently serving a different random puzzle after reopening. It also means the product can state exactly what is verified—source validity, unique orientation, deterministic selection and local state—without claiming a global rank, IQ effect or cloud-synced identity that the product does not provide.
