Daily Tents and Trees

Daily Tents gives one date-stable camping logic puzzle without changing the platform’s Today’s 6 rotation. The same local calendar date produces the same difficulty, frozen source board and symmetry transform on this release. That makes a Daily board replayable after a refresh and keeps the specialist streak meaningful without requiring an account or server.

The Daily puzzle uses the same verified source contract

Daily mode does not switch to an easier unverified generator. It draws from the same 60 frozen source puzzles used by Practice. Every source was accepted only after a separate solver counted exactly one legal tent placement. A symmetry transform changes the orientation without changing the underlying logic, and the transformed row and column clues are recalculated from the transformed verified solution.

Date-stable does not mean every day is a brand-new source

The source domain is intentionally finite and auditable: 60 verified source boards times eight symmetry transforms. A year can therefore revisit the same source-transform combination. The verifier reports the real number of distinct Daily starts instead of claiming 365 unique puzzles when the bounded source domain does not support that claim. What is guaranteed is that every date resolves deterministically and every selected board remains structurally valid.

Daily difficulty distribution

The date hash chooses among Easy 6×6, Standard 8×8 and Challenge 10×10. Standard appears most often because it offers enough interacting clues for a satisfying daily session without the footprint of the largest grid. Easy days create shorter warmups, while Challenge days ask you to manage fourteen tents and more overlapping row-column constraints.

Autosave is part of the Daily contract

If you leave the Daily board before solving it, the browser stores your marks, move count, Undo/Redo history and Assisted state locally. Returning to the same date restores that exact in-progress board. Completing the puzzle clears the autosave and records a specialist Daily history entry. This state lives under Tents & Trees statistics and does not write to Today’s 6 completion records.

Clean and Assisted solves are separated

A Daily solve can be completed entirely from deduction, or you can use Check, Verified Hint or Auto Grass when stuck. Help is useful, but it changes what the result means. V0.122 therefore marks helped runs Assisted so clean personal bests are not silently mixed with runs that received correctness feedback or direct guidance.

What to do first on a Daily board

Start by scanning row and column clues for zeros. Next, mark cells that cannot be next to any tree. Look for a tree with only one remaining orthogonal candidate. Once a tent is forced, mark all eight surrounding cells as grass because no other tent can touch it. Then return to the edge counts: a newly satisfied row or column can eliminate every remaining cell in that line.

Shared candidates are a common middle-game pattern

The hardest Daily moments often occur when two or more trees have overlapping candidate cells. Remember that trees and tents pair one-to-one. If two trees together can use only two cells, those cells are reserved for that pair even if you cannot yet tell which tree gets which tent. That reservation can eliminate the same cells as candidates for a third tree and trigger a new forced placement elsewhere.

Why a wrong row count can still hide a pairing error

Matching all edge numbers is necessary but not sufficient. A tent layout must also provide exactly one adjacent tent per tree. This is why the internal completion check compares the final tent set with the independently verified unique solution. The solver’s uniqueness test already combines edge counts, no-touch constraints and tree-to-tent assignment rather than treating them as separate optional checks.

Daily history remains local

No global leaderboard or account is needed. Completion time, moves, Assisted status and the specialist streak stay in browser storage. Clearing site data clears that local history. The product deliberately avoids pretending local results represent a population percentile or worldwide rank.

Separate from Today’s 6

Daily Tents is a specialist daily, not a replacement for the six-game platform routine. It does not change the frozen 2026 Today’s 6 lineup, Daily Score, perfect-day streak or archive contract. You can complete both on the same date and they remain independently tracked.

Practice after the Daily

After finishing today’s board, unlimited Practice can select Easy, Standard or Challenge directly. Practice seeds are stabilized in the URL, so you can keep or share a particular board without depending on the current date. The underlying source bank remains finite and independently auditable rather than being hidden behind an online puzzle API.
