Daily Word Groups Puzzle

Play one shared-on-this-device Group Grid for the current local date. The same date always selects the same four curated categories and the same underlying sixteen words, so you can return later without the puzzle quietly changing. It stays outside Today’s 6, which keeps the main daily routine at six games.

Play today's Group Grid

Today’s Group Grid uses the same real 4×4 engine as Fresh Practice, but its seed comes from the local calendar date instead of a random Practice seed. That makes it suitable for a repeatable daily ritual while keeping the existing Daily Link Up in Today’s 6 untouched.

A daily board without increasing Today’s 6

The platform’s main promise remains six daily games—one from each rotating pillar. Adding a second forced knowledge task would make that routine longer, so the V0.32 word-group board is deliberately a standalone daily challenge. You can play it when you want a deeper word-association puzzle, but skipping it never breaks the six-game daily streak.

The date seed is local-device based, matching the rest of the platform’s local-first design. No login, database or server-generated puzzle is required. Refreshing the page on the same date selects the same Easy, Standard, Hard and Tricky category set. V0.42 adds a date picker so any past Daily board can be replayed directly without creating one thin search page per date.

Four difficulty bands on every board

Each daily board contains exactly one category from each of four bands. Easy categories use direct everyday groupings. Standard categories require a little more stored knowledge. Hard categories often use shared prefixes, suffixes or compound words. Tricky categories lean on word form, sound or less obvious constructions.

Using one of each band prevents a board from becoming four copies of the same easy taxonomy task. It also gives the result a natural progression as groups are revealed, without claiming that the color bands measure a player’s intelligence or percentile.

Four mistakes and One-away feedback

You may submit up to four incorrect sets. Selecting three correct members of one unsolved category plus one intruder triggers a One-away message. The game does not identify the intruder for you, so the feedback narrows the search while preserving the deduction step. Shuffle and Deselect are free because they alter only presentation or selection state, not the answer.

If all four mistakes are used, the attempt is recorded as a loss and you can either reveal the remaining groups or keep solving in an explicitly unscored review mode. This makes the daily board reviewable after a loss without quietly turning extra attempts into a win. If you clear it, Copy result creates a spoiler-free summary with colored group markers, mistakes and time.

From daily board to unlimited practice

After finishing today’s board, switch to the regular Group Grid for a fresh seeded combination from the expanded 128-group curated category bank. Because the unlimited mode is an actual game state rather than a new landing page for every seed, the site gains repeat play without creating thin puzzle-per-URL inventory.

You can also return to Classic Link Up when you want shorter three-clue rounds or use the broader Trivia bank for direct knowledge recall. These modes share the knowledge pillar but practice meaningfully different retrieval skills.

Keep going after the board

Finishing one board should not be a dead end. Use a related challenge to switch retrieval style, or go back to the broader knowledge hub for classic Link Up and Trivia practice. Practice results stay separate from the main Today’s 6 score, so you can repeat the skill without changing the daily set.
