Southern States Map Quiz

Learn Southern U.S. states by clicking each prompted state on the real U.S. map. This focused drill uses the 16-state South pool instead of mixing in all 50 states.

Start the South map drill

This is the same interactive state-location engine as the full U.S. map quiz, filtered to the South region. A complete regional round uses every state in the 16-state pool once.

South-region location practice

The South is the largest of the four regional pools in this game, so a focused map round still gives substantial variety without mixing in the entire country. It covers Atlantic, Gulf and inland states in one connected practice set, while non-South states remain dimmed to keep the task visually focused.

What is in the South pool

The current South pool contains Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia. A full regional run presents each target once, which makes the completion screen meaningful as a coverage check rather than a score from repeated random picks.

Learn from misses without getting stuck

Pay attention to clusters and borders instead of memorizing a single screen coordinate. A wrong click is feedback, not an immediate round failure: you can try again, with reduced attempt credit after the first miss. When location recall improves, the capital-map drill can use the same regional filter and ask you to translate a capital name into the correct state on the map.

Use the region as a stepping stone

A regional quiz is not a separate toy engine. It is a filter on the same 50-state map system, so you can move from South practice to the full U.S. States Map Quiz without learning a different interface. Quick 10 and Deep 25 remain available where the pool size allows them, and the “regional full” option automatically caps itself at all 16 states rather than asking for duplicates.

Add another retrieval layer

After you can locate the South states from their names, switch the Geography Practice activity to Capital → state · map. The region filter stays available, so the prompt can begin with a state capital and require you to retrieve and locate the matching state. You can also practice isolated state outlines when map context starts to feel too easy.
