LIBERTIES + CAPTURE

Groups live through open neighbors

Orthogonally connected stones form one group. When the last liberty disappears, the whole opposing group is removed immediately.

SUICIDE + SUPERKO

Illegal repeats never appear as moves

You cannot leave your newly placed group without a liberty unless the move captures first. Positional superko also blocks any stone placement that recreates a previous board position.

AREA SCORING

Play unsettled groups out before passing twice

After two consecutive passes the browser counts stones plus surrounded empty points, with 6.5 komi for White. There is no remote dead-stone adjudicator, so unresolved groups should be played out before both sides pass.

9×9 + 13×13

Learn on boards that fit real browser practice

9×9 keeps games compact and is the fixed Daily size. 13×13 gives more room for direction-of-play decisions without pretending the local heuristic AI is a professional 19×19 engine.

CLEAN VS ASSISTED

Study help stays visible

Hint, Undo or Restart marks the current game Assisted. Legal moves and scoring do not change; Clean wins simply separate unaided finishes from study sessions.
