Intervals instead of one WPM number
Median, P90, dispersion and a local rhythm score show whether pace was steady or bursty. The coach also splits the run into four quarters so late-run drift is visible.
Start typing immediately, then inspect speed, accuracy, consistency, correction cost and pace drift. Fixed benchmark forms make repeat runs comparable without inventing a population percentile.

Ready
Start when ready. The clock begins only on your first printable key.
18 accuracy-first lessons move from home-row anchors to full mixed-text control. Every lesson stays unlocked; progress is local to this browser.
Build a short baseline first, then this mode targets your slow or error-prone letters and pairs.
Actual letter misses from this browser will appear here.
A passage is selected from the local text bank.

Heat is relative to your own browser history. It is not a population benchmark.
The coach keeps the familiar WPM/accuracy test, but adds browser-local rhythm, hesitation, correction and repeatability evidence. It stores aggregate metrics only — never your Custom Text source or a reconstructed copy of what you typed.
Keep the familiar test, then inspect second-by-second pace, finger workload, hand balance and a five-run Standard 60 benchmark pack. Raw target text and typed text are not stored by this layer.
Measurement boundary: this is a private, browser-local skill instrument. It does not invent a worldwide percentile, job certificate or medical/cognitive conclusion.
Median, P90, dispersion and a local rhythm score show whether pace was steady or bursty. The coach also splits the run into four quarters so late-run drift is visible.
Backspaces, error-to-next-correct recovery time and correction load remain visible even after you fix the final text. A corrected typo does not disappear from the diagnostic record.
The local repeatability card groups the last three Clean runs with the same setup and reports median WPM, range and coefficient of variation. It is descriptive, not a population percentile.
Pair timings are ranked against this run and this browser history, then routed back into Focus Lab. The coach does not invent universal “bad keys.”
Paste/drop attempts, focus or visibility changes and IME composition mark the run Review. Backspace itself is allowed and measured as recovery work instead of being treated as cheating.
Browser WPM depends on text, duration, keyboard, layout, device and conditions. This page does not claim an employment certificate, medical meaning or fabricated global ranking.
Foundation, Reach and Fluency lessons stay unlocked so beginners can learn the keyboard while experienced typists can jump directly to capitals, punctuation, numbers or mixed accuracy.
WPM uses final correctly matched characters divided by five and by elapsed minutes. Raw WPM counts all printable key attempts. Accuracy retains mistakes even if you backspace and fix them later.
Problem letters come only from keys you actually missed in this browser. Weak Keys practice filters the local word pool toward those letters instead of inventing a skill diagnosis.
Custom Text accepts up to 5,000 characters for a one-off practice run. The source text itself is not written into local typing history, so private notes are not silently turned into saved content.
Typing history, lesson mastery, PBs and problem-key counts stay in browser storage. They are local practice metrics, not a classroom grade, certification or population percentile.
