DAILY DIGIT SPAN · DATE-STABLE SPECIALIST

One date-stable Digit Span block, separate from Today’s 6

Daily Digit Span gives each calendar date one deterministic Digit Span block. It uses the same exact-response engine as Practice, but the source, digit permutation, direction, and difficulty are fixed for that date so replaying the day does not silently swap the challenge.

Daily does not alter Today’s 6

This specialist has its own history and streak. It is intentionally outside the established Today’s 6 rotation. Completing Daily Digit Span does not add a seventh required game, replace one of the frozen Today’s 6 slots, or mutate the existing Daily-day records used by the main platform streak.

That separation is important for cumulative compatibility. A specialist can offer a daily reason to return without rewriting the older rotation contract. The Digit Span Daily state lives under its own local `digitSpanStats.daily` record.

How the 2026 schedule is frozen

The current verifier enumerates every date in 2026. The deterministic schedule produces 365 date-stable materialized block identities, and the verifier requires all 365 to be distinct. Difficulty is distributed as 60 Easy, 180 Standard, and 125 Challenge blocks during 2026. That statement applies to the verified 2026 schedule only; another year must be enumerated before making the same distinctness claim.

The day chooses a frozen source and a deterministic permutation of digit labels. It does not download a new puzzle from a server. Reopening the same date reconstructs the same concrete block from local code.

Easy Daily

Forward recall, spans 3–8, 1000 ms per digit. It keeps the simplest answer direction while still using the full two-attempt ladder.

Standard Daily

Backward recall, spans 3–8, 1000 ms per digit. This is the most common Daily difficulty in the frozen 2026 distribution.

Challenge Daily

Backward recall, spans 4–10, 750 ms per digit. It raises both upper span and presentation speed without changing answer authority.

Same stop rule

Every Daily block uses two trials at each span. Two misses at one span end that run; one exact response at the span keeps the ladder moving.

What is saved after completion

A completed Daily run stores the date, difficulty, direction, attempted trials, correct trials, exact accuracy, max span, recall timing summaries, assistance state, and source identity in the local specialist history. The specialist streak increments when completion dates are consecutive. Replaying an already completed date does not manufacture another streak day.

The original V0.139 serialized store remains historical migration input. V0.140 creates a new `dbp:v140` store rather than rewriting the old `dbp:v139` bytes. Existing Go / No-Go, Task Switching, Object Tracking, Mental Rotation, Rhythm, and earlier specialist data are carried forward by migration.

Clean and Assisted still matter in Daily

Chunk Cue can be used in Daily, but a run where it was enabled is marked Assisted. The result stays visible because hiding assisted practice would make history misleading. The separate label tells you that the presentation included an extra grouping cue.

Why there is no Daily percentile

A date-stable puzzle is useful because it makes your own replay and local streak understandable. It does not create a representative population sample. This preview therefore does not label a span as top 10%, average, impaired, gifted, or any other population category. No leaderboard or demographic norm table is used.

If a result feels unexpectedly low, the page still only knows what happened in this browser round. Distraction, unfamiliarity, typing errors, device changes, and strategy can all influence the run. The safe interpretation is task-specific: how many sequences were exact, what span was reached, and how the result compares with your own Clean history under similar settings.

Daily versus deterministic Practice

Practice also supports exact replay, but its identity comes from an explicit seed in the URL. Fresh block generates a new seed so you can keep practicing. Daily instead derives identity from the calendar date. That makes Practice suitable for unlimited rounds and Daily suitable for a single named challenge you can return to.

If you want to study one exact block, keep the Practice URL with its seed. If you want new material, use Fresh block. If you want today’s shared local schedule, use Daily.

What the verifier checks

The independent V0.140 verifier does more than count files. It checks the 90-source 30/30/30 bank split, level direction and timing contract, digit ranges, span lengths, adjacent-repeat constraint, deterministic Practice materialization, exact answer derivation, 6,000 Practice samples, every 2026 Daily date, Daily determinism, Daily validity, Daily distinctness, and the frozen difficulty distribution.

The committed generator is also reproduced in a temporary directory during cumulative QA. Its generated bank must be byte-identical to the committed bank. That protects the source from a situation where the documentation says the data is generated but the generator no longer reproduces what ships.

Use the Daily result as a small practice record

The useful questions are concrete. Was the sequence recalled exactly? What was the longest successful span? Did two misses at one length stop the ladder? Was Chunk Cue on? How quickly did recall begin after the prompt? Those answers are visible without pretending that one browser result summarizes a person’s overall ability.

For unlimited rounds go to Digit Span Practice. For other memory mechanics, compare Verbal Memory, Dual N-Back, and Memory Grid.

Daily FAQ

Can I get a different Daily block by refreshing?

No. The same date reconstructs the same block. Use Fresh Practice when you want another source.

Does Daily Digit Span count toward the main six-game streak?

No. It has a separate specialist streak and does not change Today’s 6.

Can I replay yesterday?

The current specialist route accepts an explicit day parameter for deterministic QA and future navigation, but the ordinary Daily entry point opens the current date. Any broader archive UX should be added deliberately rather than inferred from this page.

Is the 365-distinct statement permanent?

It is a measured property of the frozen 2026 schedule. Future years must be enumerated independently before the same claim is made.
