Medium Practice expands the board to 12×12, chooses ten words from the selected theme and adds both downward diagonal directions. It is materially different from Easy without jumping straight to the full eight-direction search used by Hard.

How Medium Word Search works

Medium Practice expands the board to 12×12, chooses ten words from the selected theme and adds both downward diagonal directions. It is materially different from Easy without jumping straight to the full eight-direction search used by Hard.

What changes compared with the other levels

V0.26 does not reuse one puzzle and change only the difficulty label. Each Word Search profile has its own grid size, target count and direction rules. Classic preserves the original six-word 10×10 format for continuity, while Easy, Medium, Hard and Expert progressively change the actual generation constraints.

The generator places the selected words first, fills unused cells locally in the browser and rejects a candidate grid if a target accidentally appears in more than one location. That keeps the visible puzzle aligned with the intended placements instead of letting random filler create confusing duplicate answers.

What it trains

Medium is the balanced Practice profile: more targets and more directions than Easy, but the visible word bank and lack of backward placements keep the puzzle readable. It is designed for repeat sessions rather than a one-off static grid.

Choose a theme after you start

The same difficulty engine works with all 37 current themes. Each theme now contains 16 curated words rather than only the six-word Classic set, giving larger Practice profiles enough real vocabulary to select from while keeping Daily Word Search compact.

Theme and difficulty are both explicit Practice controls. Changing either one creates a fresh browser-side puzzle and keeps Practice scoring separate from Today's 6, so experimenting with a harder grid does not alter the daily 6,000-point routine.

Controls and assists

On touch or mouse, drag from the first letter to the last along a straight line. Keyboard users can focus a start cell and an end cell instead. Hint highlights the starting letter of one remaining word. Expert also includes a separate Reveal word bank control, so the hidden-list challenge is optional rather than a trap.

Keep going

Move between difficulty levels when you want a different search pattern, choose a fixed-theme landing for a particular vocabulary set, or return to the Word Games hub for anagrams and five-letter deduction.
